As it oh-so-often does, the story begins with a simple game.
“In the kingdom of Kumaville, trouble stirs on the horizon; scouting parties from the Usa-Yami Hobgoblin Principality have often made their presence known, and a full-scale invasion draws near. To react too swiftly or noticeably could spell doom for Kumaville, and thus the glorious King Kuma seeks a small group of bloodthirsty champions to settle the brewing tides of conflict before his life is needlessly lost. Can the party rise to the occasion and stop the seemingly inevitable war before it begins, or will they all die without point, or reason? Only time will tell…”
Thus begins the first session of Dungeons & Dragons to be held by our splendid band of students. Shiori McLellan, the Half-Elf Bard, Tohru Honda, the Human Mage, Vitasari du Maurier, the Half-Orc Thief, and Dean Aikawa, the Halfling Berserker. DM'd by Susekei Iwazada, and (mostly) ignored by Minikuma, who is very angry that the group is playing an edition of D&D that allows for Halflings to be Beserkers.
Well, to cut a long story short, not even the Ultimate D&D Player can get a uncooperative bunch of people to successfully play together. All she can do is drag it out to 3 days worth of trying to successfully do something. The first day was mostly spent teaching, reteaching, and yelling at Tohru and Dean; both because of their failure to successfully participate, and Dean because of his bullying of Tohru. The second day went a little better; Tohru, now donning robes and a wizard hat, seemed to understand the game a little more and even managed to successfully cast a spell, though Dean was still Dean. The third day was hot garbage and over very quickly; Dean was unusually nasty to Tohru, and shortly after everyone else yelled at him, he (accidently) spilled his Stain™ Soda all over Tohru and her robes. This prompted her to run to her room, crying. Thus ends the D&D attempts.
...Or, it would, if not for the mysterious letters everyone received the next day. Other than Dean, who at the end of breakfast announced loudly to no one in particular that he was going to go take a shower and left the Cafe, everyone shared the fact that they had received unsigned letters outside their dorm rooms requesting them to take the day to make or do something for the D&D sessions. Thus, our adventurers went boldly forth on their own ways, until fate rejoined them to unify against a tragic event...
